- Profile
RIT Ambulance is a student-operated emergency medical services (EMS) organization serving the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) community and surrounding areas. Operating 24/7 during the academic year, the organization provides Basic Life Support (BLS) at the EMT level, ensuring rapid and professional emergency response on campus. Staffed entirely by trained student volunteers, RIT Ambulance combines a strong educational foundation with hands-on EMS experience, offering its members opportunities for leadership and professional development in public safety.
As a New York State-certified ambulance agency, RIT Ambulance maintains high standards of care and operates in coordination with Monroe County’s 911 system. The team is equipped with a fully stocked ambulance and bicycle response units to ensure fast access at campus events and locations with limited vehicle accessibility. Beyond emergency response, the organization is deeply involved in community outreach, offering CPR and first aid training, and raising public awareness of health and safety practices. RIT Ambulance emphasizes a culture of responsibility, teamwork, and service, making it an essential safety asset to RIT and a model for student-run EMS programs nationwide.
